This was a bad day for astrophotography. Despite clear skies, the seeing was terrible
this day, and also at the time I started shoting, the fog arrived, so although there
was no fog above me, I was literally IN the fog. But after you've driven all the way up there
and setup your equipment, unless things get really bad, you're just going to shoot and see
hat happens. Considering the situation, the whirpool galaxy didn't turn out too bad, other
than being a tiny object sourrounded by empty space of course :-)

Good day, sir;
I very much enjoyed your photo of M51. I'm relatively new with astrophotography, I've only been doing this 2 years. But M51 is a regular target for me, and a most challenging one. The other night I took a photo of M51 with a William Optics 72mm APO and a Canon 500D. Since you shot with an NP101is (which btw is what I plan to be my next scope), I've been using your photo as a benchmark, or a milestone I plan to achieve myself. So... GREAT WORK! 4 minute exposures under fog, that's impressive.
Please feel free to visit my page on FB. Any comments, tips or suggestions would be more than welcome.
Clear skies
